3.1 Changing My Password

A How-To Recipe

It is a good idea to regularly change your password in order to limit the damage that can be caused by a compromised password. If you have been issued a default password when first given access to an application, it is extremely important to change it before using any services.

A good password includes a mix of letters, numbers, and non-alphanumeric characters (e.g., !, $, &, etc.), has a minimum of 8 characters, and does not include any dictionary words or words that can be associated with you. For example, the password kintdru3$2 would be a secure password, whereas johnsmith1964 or gridlock would not.

Changing your password is a simple four step process:

  1. Click Preferences at the top of the page.

  4. A confirmation message will appear, and you will be brought back to the Preferences page. If an error message appears, carefully read the message and correct the issue.
