Explicit Knowledge

A Knowledge Management Concept
August 5, 2006
Jeff Elpern

Overview

There is information we know from from our educational and training backgrounds. There is also information we know how to quickly access via reference material. All of this is well defined, well understood and well documented explicit knowledge.

Definition

Explicit Knowledge is the body of Knowledge Units that already exist for a specific application domain.

Explicit knowledge exists as tightly held individual explicit knowledge or more broadly available publish explicit knowledge.
